Online family violence intervention order application form recognised for innovation and design

MCV’s online family violence intervention order application form has been awarded gold at the 2020 Australian Good Design Awards.

The form was recognised for its innovation and design in the social impact category.

Launched statewide in August, the form allows people to apply online for a family violence intervention order without having to attend a court.

The new form was a recommendation from the Royal Commission into Family Violence, which highlighted the need to make the application process easier and more accessible.

More than 41,000 people sought intervention orders across Victoria in 2019-20, a six per cent increase on the previous year.

The Chief Magistrate, Judge Lisa Hannan, thanked the family violence team for its hard work and commended them on the successful launch of the form.

“The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria is committed to providing greater flexibility in the way court services are delivered,” she said.

“The new form is part of our ongoing commitment to make the justice system more accessible and easier to navigate.”
