Cobram courthouse recovery
The Cobram Magistrates’ Court recovery is well underway and on schedule for delivery later this month. You can view a 3D image of the court back in May showing the significant fire damage to the majority of the historic courthouse, click here.
Prior to being engulfed by fire last March, the century old Cobram Magistrates’ Court, nestled in the heart of town, featured one courtroom and one registry. All of which were destroyed in the fire. Fortunately, the exterior of the building was left intact and the restoration works will return the courthouse to its original specifications, with no change to the building’s structure.
The recovery project offers a unique opportunity to conduct infrastructure upgrades to improve accessibility and safety at the historic site.
To ensure the continuation of service delivery in the region, temporary court facilities were set up at the old Country Fire Authority building and will continue until the court is fully operational.
