The appointment of Her Honour Judge Lisa Hannan as the next Chief Magistrate

Statement from Chief Magistrate Peter Lauritsen

I wish to congratulate Her Honour Judge Lisa Hannan on her appointment as the next Chief Magistrate.

Judge Hannan is a respected judicial officer and she will bring vision, passion and integrity to her new role.

I had the privilege of working with Judge Hannan when she was a magistrate, and she has since distinguished herself as a coroner and a County Court judge.

I am honoured to have been Victoria’s Chief Magistrate for the past seven years, and to have served as a magistrate for 30 years.

When I cease to hold office on 17 November I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Victoria as a reserve judge at the County Court.

I wish to thank my judicial colleagues for their support over the past years, and the executive and staff of the Magistrates’ Court who work tirelessly to ensure the proper administration of justice.
